GRT, a Chinese industrial film maker whose stock is traded in the South Korea’s secondary stock market Kosdaq, is seeking to acquire Protem, an unlisted Korean manufacturer of film coating equipment.
The Chinese company said on Monday it has signed a preliminary contract to acquire a 51 percent interest in Protem. GRT initially considered a minority stake investment in the Korean company but turned its position to control the ownership in the course of talks, according to sources familiar with the deal. Details on its investment and acquisition plan will be finalized before the end of this year after due diligence.
